Happy International Women's Day
The Drinks Association is proud to be celebrating International Women's Day 2019 with a special event - "Be The Change You Want To See".
Hosted by our Women in Drinks Council, it will feature one of Australia’s most prominent entrepreneurs, Naomi Simson, as guest speaker.
Simson will be sharing her passionate views on the workplace with The Drinks Association's members and guests today. In a time before gender quotas, flexible working hours, paternity leave and unconscious bias training, she was building an empire that lived all of this and more.
She is the founder of online experience retailer RedBalloon and the co-founder of the Big Red Group, which houses a number of brands including Adrenaline, Albert AI (Marketics) and Redii.com with the purpose of shifting the way people experience life.
Simson's address will be followed by a panel discussion featuring members of the drinks industry who have forged ahead in the space of gender, diversity and inclusion.
The panel will showcase stand-out performers in the Contribution to Industry Awards for Gender Equity and Diversity and Inclusion at the 2018 Australian Drinks Awards.
Attendees will hear examples of companies who have implemented and successfully executed internal initiatives, from the leaders who have championed them.
Women in Drinks Counciller Sally Byrne (above) will moderate the panel. Byrne has more than 20 years’ experience in blue chip multi-national organisations in strategy, consumer marketing, innovation, digital, media and sales.
She is a sponsor of several industry-led programs on leadership and diversity and inclusion. Byrne has also appeared as a keynote and panellist speaker in Australia and internationally on topics including leadership, consumer strategy and women in leadership.
The Drinks Association is thrilled that this International Women's Day event will support Women in Drinks' charity partner, Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group (ANZGOG). ANZGOG is the national peak organisation for gynaecological cancer clinical trials in Australia and New Zealand.
Women in Drinks raised more than $22,000 - and awareness of the importance of gender diversity in the Australian drinks industry - at its sell-out International Women's Day event last year.
This year, $10 from each ticket sale went to ANZGOG, while a raffle will take place today to raise further funds. There will also be a Mumm Bar on site, where guests can purchase bottles of G.H.Mumm NV Champagne with proceeds going to ANZGOG.
More than 400 guests are expected to attend our International Women's Day event today. We look forward to welcoming you all.
