Jody Thomas joins Little Creatures as head brewer
Little Creatures Geelong has welcomed a new Head Brewer and opened an event space, The Furphy Hall.
Jody Thomas (pictured above, far right) has joined the team as Head Brewer, taking over from Warren Pawsey who has moved into a new technical and quality role in craft.
"Having recently moved from Lion’s West End Brewery in Adelaide, Jody brings to the role over a decade of brewing experience and a passion for beer and science," said Lion MD James Brindley.
“It has always been a dream of mine to work at a brewery like Little Creatures, which has such a strong focus on craft beer and the local community,” Thomas told News Corp.
“The best thing about brewing is that there is always new technology to test, new ingredients to experiment with, and new ways of doing things in general.
“There’s always an opportunity to learn something different.”
Thomas was on hand for the official opening of The Furphy Hall at Little Creatures, just in time for Christmas.
Nearly $80 million has been invested in the development and growth of the former Valley Mills site since Little Creatures took it over in 2013. The new space is the first part of a third stage of investment, worth an additional $1 million over the next three years.
The new venue pays homage to the Furphy family of Shepparton, which to this day still manufactures the stainless-steel tanks used at the brewery, where Furphy Refreshing Ale was founded in 2014.
The Furphy Hall will host private functions as well as music, comedy and markets in the South Geelong precinct.
